For me, to draw or paint another person is to attempt to see and describe another universe. People are fascinating: Each one is unique, physically complex and varied in form. Each one breathes into our world special qualities. Each one expresses a rich mixture of mental, physical, emotional and spiritual energy. It is this whole person– a physical being with a special personality and soul –that I seek to somehow capture in each portrait or figure.
