This Art Site-Portfolio represents various experiences throughout my life; a journey through time and space/places between the years 1977-2014.  Specifically, Oregon, N.Y.C., Vermont, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jerusalem, Israel.

I was born in 1953.  My life began long before these pieces were created.  With the exception of the tape and ink drawings, the following written vignettes speak of the context in which they were envisioned or formed.  Nothing exists within a vacuum.  We are all part of, influenced by and respond to the environment and people around us.  In summation I hope to integrate and communicate as many parts of my life as possible: mental, physical, emotional and spiritual.  To live and inspire others.

Today, as an artist (as a woman, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, neighbor, etc.,) I ask myself: Who Am I ?  Where Am I Going ?  Where Do I Want to Go ?  To Become ?

In part I answer: I was born loving art; it was my D.N.A. gift. Or part of my spiritual inheritance.  Art is my passion, my language when words and thoughts leave me feeling so incomplete.  What is a Man ,Woman, Child ?  In part, a creative being.  We all have gifts, different kinds to nurture, develop, grow by and share.  Each person is unique– a unique creation within creation.  The world is a beautiful, exciting and diversified place, and yet it is filled with enormous challenges and problems.  The creative part of one’s mind is challenged to think and respond in order to solve these problems.  Our minds need to think in positive life affirming tracks; to feel the love and value of being alive. We need to learn how to play, experience awe and investigate life.  We need to  value the search and the process, rather than look behind our backs to see how “IN” we or our projects are.  To judge, evaluate constructively and allow for differences is also an art.  In this process of being alive, we are challenged to see human differences as good, as part of creation, that adds to the beauty and wonder and excitement of life.  Even if we don’t find common ground or agree , that is the way it is.  If I am Green and you are Red, I need not make you Green and you have no right to try and make me Red.  Finished. Many kinds, varieties and multiples of creations exist  within the inanimate , plant and animal kingdoms.

Traditionally a piece of art is only as good or great as is the integration and organization of it’s many (basic design) parts: Composition, lines, shapes, form and color.  One seeks to acquire or see balance (whether symmetrical or asymmetrical).   Today I think that many of us want to see, find relevance, content or meaning in our work.  One wants to feel something akin to the heart or soul, to connect to a foundation of wisdom or eternal “Truth”.  Something to connect to which is much deeper than the external world or finite self.  That was at the heart of Sol LeWitt’s work in the search to express the logic of “system” as underlying existence.

IMG_15102To answer the question: Where I Want To Go with my art What do I want to Accomplish?
I have to answer that I hope to be authentic.  I hope to allow my art to take many forms.  To flow from within; to simultaneously paint and draw and explore deeply that which inspires me.  To be , try to be, in the moment.  Because sometimes I think and feel that this moment might be all I have or ever will have.
